Hi, I know there was an Avid express bug with rendering titels and making a green line on the first lines of my picture...
But now, after 6 days of work I really wanna kill myself and have no idea what to do.
I imported .png graphics with an alpha channel and moved the position in effect editor, matte key. As long as I do not render the effect, all fine. But now I rendered the effect for the first time and got purple stripes in my video! A horizontal purple line on top of every .png file. WHY? I tried to crop it and it seems to work, but if I have to set the crop for every pic I used I'll go nuts... Is there a way to get rid of the stripes, without cropping every picture I used?
What the hell is this? Please don't tell me it's a bug again. I swear I will throw this *** out of my window.
This sounds very much like a graphics card/ driver issue.
What version of Xpro are you running? Also check your Graphics card model and the driver version as well as the Quick Time version.
Post those here or check with the appropriate read me to make sure your system is up to specs.
Hi! My AXP is: 5.2.4 (should be the right one)
My graphic: GeForce4 MX 460
Driver 4.5.2.3
But where do I find the quicktime version? Is there a way to simply reinstall the right version?
check avid knowledgebase there is something called a matrix that lists software and driver versions. The right QT version: go to the apple site and do a search on the support part of the site with the driverversion you found in the matrix mentenioed above. It is all there. Deinstall the old driver, and reinstall and all should be fine

Disabling the NVIDIA Driver Helper Service
The NVIDIA Driver Helper Service is a background program that runs with the
NVIDIA driver installed. This service informs you when an update to the NVIDIA
driver is available. There have been instances where this service causes slow restarts
and shutdown with the Avid Mojo attached. The service also can prevent Adobe
Photoshop’s Gamma loader from operating, which causes color correction settings
not to work properly. If this occurs, you should disable the NVIDIA Driver Helper
Service.
To disable the NVIDIA Driver Helper Service:
1. Right-click My Computer.
2. Click Manage.
3. Double-click Services and Applications.
4. Double-click Services.
5. Right-click NVidia Display Driver or NVidia Driver Helper Service.
6. Click Properties.
7. Select Startup Type > Disable.
8. Click OK.

Oh... Okay... So I just have the wrong graphic card. GeForce4 MX460 is just not the thing AVID works with. And for sure my grafic card doesn't work with the driver AVID needs to work. Installed 77.18 and my system just crashed. So I guess I will not buy a new 100% supported grafic card for 599€. If I'd buy a new system next time I'll try to find software that works with more than one configuration. *shaking my head* :-)
But thanks for the help!
By the way, I can't even find quicktime 7.0 for windows on the apple site :-(

Sorry bout that. The whole graphics card thing is just kind of a fact of life.

I feel your pain...and I shared your view many years ago when I had to buy a new computer to run Pro Tools on (it required an Intel processor at the time) and then another one, years later for Avid (a qualified dual Xeon system). But there is a silver lining of sorts as Avid is tested extensively on the qualified systems. So if you are good and play along, the benefits of a solid and stable system are worthwhile in the long run.
Just quick: I had the following problem in a 25p project:
I imported .png graphics with an alpha channel and moved the position in effect editor, matte key. As long as I do not render the effect, all fine. But now I rendered the effect for the first time and got purple stripes in my video! A horizontal purple line on top of every .png file. WHY? I tried to crop it and it seems to work, but if I have to set the crop for every pic I used I'll go nuts...
Plus: Everytime I rendered the effect AVID adds a black horizintal line on the button of my picture, about 3 Pixels black...
I'm working on a HP work station with an nvidia graphic, but the wrong one, maybe...
So now I set up a new project in 25i pal and guess what: No lines at all! Everything works as it should. What do you think. I don't think that this has something to do with my graphic card at all. So what the hell happens in the 25p project?
