Happy weekend all!
I had to have my DS system reinstalled and I've noticed an issue with the uncompressed Avi files that I export. Now when I open these Avi's in Quicktime to convert there is no audio present. I did a search and found a set of Avid codecs that I dl'd and was told by my machine that they are already installed. Is there an update or newer version of Avid codecs for Qt.
I'm exporting these AVI's using the "uncompressed" setting in the output window with a 24 as the audio bit depth, something I've done about 600 other times pre-re install with no problems.
When I open the same AVI files in windows media player the audio is present.
Thanks as usual bros
later.
Do you still have any of these previous AVI files with audio that worked in Quicktime? And if yes, do they still show you their audio?
Because if previously working AVI files no longer work, then I would suspect a change with your Quicktime player, maybe an update... Quicktime 7.4.5 is the currently supported player.
Avid DS does indeed add the Avid Quicktime codecs as part of its installation.

Hello autolux,
I had the same problem once with DS10.1.1 and the diagnosis i had that time was the multistream audio i had on my timeline. I reverted to stereo config and i regained audio on my export. I don't know if this has something to do with your specific problem but im sure there are guys here who can help.
all the best,
Hey there
The old uncompressed AVI files before the re-install have audio present within quicktime player. The new umcompressed files I export have no audio when opened in QT. Is it some export setting I'm missing?
Thanks,
Aaron Bruski
Since the audio is embedded in the AVI files, right click on one older file that works and open its properties, then do the same for one that does not work and compare the details of both files. It will give you the information to uncover the difference.
The new AVI files when exported have audio when played through windows media player. When I then open these avi's that have audio and play fine in windows media player with the QT application there is no audio present. As in its not even seeing the audio stream. So for me, to look at the audio channel in QT is not possible until I figure out whats up. R U guys sure that my version of DS (8.4) works with the newest QT? I'm starting to think that's not the case.
