I thought that MC And pro Tools were not compatible coexisting on the same MAC computer? I thought I had read some where recently with one of the latest versions of of MC that Pro Tools and MC can now in fact reside on the same Mac system? Is this Possible with certain MAC computers and a specific later version Of MC?
Thanks
PT 8 can co-exist with MC 3.5. You can find that information in MC 3.5 RM (p. 7-8).

I'd love to hear from others on this. I have had some pretty bad Bus Errors when I've tried to let these two coexist. (yes, on 3.5 and 8) Anyone else?
This was with HD hardware, haven't tried LE yet.
Don't trust the internet...
Afain, the issue with the digidriver has been resolved...you can now have both co-installed. There may be other issues with specific io configs...
For specifics on MC and PT compability, check out:

Also...check out the readme file in MC 3.5 -- The MC 3.5 ReadMe section titled "Co-Install Supported Configurations" provides notes for co-install as well as a chart that demarcates the specific I/O configurations tested.

nobody is answering on another topic (Mbox/Mc 3.5) so I post here:
I've already installed Pro Tools 8 LE on my system,
now I'm going to install MC 3.5:
should I uncheck (and so not install) the DigiCOre Audio Drivers in Avid Installer?
or should I leave them checked and install them?
From the Avid Knowledge Base.
Hope this helps you.

The thing that no one at Avid could confirm is whether compatibilty is independent on versions. i.e. what happens if I upgrade one or the other apps? I am going to keep them on separate partitions until we get further clarification.
Not sure what you mean by "independent on versions." If you are running MC 3.5 and PT 8 LE you should be fine. The digi-driver has been fixed so that both programs use the same driver. We're running them together, fwiw and have been for months... (Digi 002r)
So, this finally mean that it doesn't matter if I install or not the Drivers in the MC 3.5 installer?
I tried every link posted but I can't get answers on this.
wfasano:should I uncheck (and so not install) the DigiCOre Audio Drivers in Avid Installer?
I have read the release note for MC 3.5 and i didn't find any information on whether not to install or uncheck the Digi driver when installing MC. I'm positive that it should also be installed.
thanks very much.
can someone @ Avid confirm this too?
To clarify, once again, the only folks at Avid who will regularly pop into these user forums is either Marianna or myself. Occasionally we will request assistance from helpful people like Bob Russo but please do not wait to hear from Avid when you have questions on the forums. If you need customer support help, please call 1-800-800-AVID.
Having said that, I just installed three PT8/MC 3.5.x systems and, during the install, left the boxes checked for installing the Digi Drivers. As of the time I left the site, all was working well. I'm not in engineering so my experiences are anecdotal from a user's perspective but, there you have it.
I will check with our Product Champions today and see what they say about the install procedures.

You should install Pro Tools first (and I would boot it up to make sure it is working). Then install Media Composer and the digidriver...afain. If you have an Mbox, do not uninstall the audio drivers for it specifically.
Btw...these installs don't take that much time.
You are right, they don't take time.
But uninstalling things is not an exact science,
so I want to be sure to make the right thing when I install
(ps I already have installed PT on my iMac.)
Todd and Adman are spot on....
A great place to check for install is here: http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=3&langid=100&categoryid=35&itemid=37195
I have a running dialog going with Digi now on 002 and Mbox so I checked as well. Go through the above url, check it and make sure you follow the instruction.
Unfortunately, I am not at my system which has both on it so I cant go thru the exact scenario but I know I used the digi document when I did it.
