Thanks for your help Bob. It seems that we didn't use the "Organize P2" option with the FS-100.
Here's the reply from FVFilm ( Less than 20 minutes! BTW)
"Thanks for contacting DVFilm Support. We are sorry that you are having problems. It appears that you are not working with a full P2 file structure, which MXFX requires, MXFX cannot find any XML files. Future versions of MXFX will only require the bare MXF video files. The FS-100 will record into P2 format but only if you use the "Organize P2 option". There is a lot of discussion about this on dvxuser.comBest Regards,The DVFilm Support Team"
I believe for this same reason P2CMS can't see the files from the FS-100. The files were transferred on set from the FS-100 to an external drive.
So, looks like I will be going the other way and adding a pulldown to the 720/24pn to match with the 720/24p unless someone has any other ideas.
Good thing I stopped to test the MXFX before I got to far into prepping the 720/24pn footage.
Thanks Again!
Did you just drop the MXF clips into the Avid MediaFiles folder and use the Media Tool for the Avid to recognize them?
Do you have any Avid Hardware? If not, its going to be a lot of work to get to SD from this project type.

Yes, that’s the work flow model I followed, or was planning to follow as I have only tested the footage. I, of course still have the files copies from the FS-100 on a separate drive.
No, I do not have any Avid hardware. I was planning on taking the project to another facility with hardware when we were going to finish to HD.
So, exporting to a DVD with a project using 720/24p is more difficult that 720/24pn? I thought it might have been the other way around?
Hey Again,
I see what you mean. I couldn't change a 720p/59.94 project type to an SD project. So I will not be able to finish to DVD easily. So what would be suggested? Out put the 720/24p footage to a P2 card via an HVX? And the re-import? I have to assemble the clips to link the spanned footage anyway.
Also, for fun I exported a Quick Time reference of the 720/24p and tried to import it into the 720/24pn project and it did and it plays. Does that mean it will work? What are the pros and cons of this work around. It's too simple as that is what I was going to have to do to assemble the spanned clips from the FS-100 so I could group them to do a multi camera edit.
Please advise.
Thanks again!
In this case QuickTime is doing the frame rate conversion and I don't know how well it does this. I suggest export Same as Source QuickTime files and use DVFilm's Maker to change the frame rate of the clip. When the new clips are created use an Avid codec and they will fast import.
Thanks again Bob. Looks like we got this one sorted out.
My next project I'm shooting in August we will be using the Red Cam. I have already been seeking out your tutorials on workflow. Feel free to direct me to any new and important sources as I plan to have every post production step tried tested before for we step one foot on location!
This was discussed here for a while.
I did it following way. I loaded all the master clips from FS-100 to bin. (The FS-100 was connected as a disk to the computer and MC recognised it as a P2 card.) Then I made timelines for each long scene. I deleted unnecessary tracks and trimmed out unwanted parts of scenes. After that I exported those timelines as QuickTime Reference.
Next: Import QT reference into MC (with FS-100 connected). Only at this stage are media files copied to MC's media folders. No transcoding takes place. That way you'll get continuous clips for each scene.

The current RED workflow information is on the Avid/RED landing Page: http://www.avid.com/red/

The issue is that the Organize P2 function wasn't done so the drive doesn't appear as a P2 card.
