Crash and wierd colors on reinstall!!

I posted a couple of days ago that I had to reinstall 5.7.2 after a hard drive crash.  I had the program in a zip file.  I executed the install and all seemed well.  I put in the dongle and the program started but right away I knew there was trouble.  Instead of the colors of the program, the "windows" blue was all around the screen and I went into the preferences but the regular Avid colors were selected but not showing.  Shortly after, I tried to import an .mxf file and crash!  The program crashed.  I tried to run it several more times but crash, crash, crash!  I went into the event viewer and saw the following:

    Fault bucket 463680565

    and another before it:

Faulting application avidexpresspro.exe, version 5.7.2.35630, faulting module asintppc.dll, version 0.398.0.14, fault address 0x0008f02d.

    Information:

The exception generated was c0000005 at address 1A302E9F (<nosymbols>)

Can anyone help?  I'm really up against a deadline!

    Thanks,

    David

well... You already know :) Did you disable features in your windows version that are not compatable with Avid? Do a search on these forums. There is info on this version of windows.

The odd thing is that I had it working perfectly for a couple of years with Media Edition...just this time round I don't know what's different..!  Thanks, I'll check in the forums again.

Re: Crash and wierd colors on reinstall!!

Just done the research on the boards and suprisingly the consensus is that it's an old wives tale that Avid doesn't run well on Media Edition.  The techs say although it isn't an "approved" OS it works just like regular XP Pro as long as the Media Edition features are disabled and I've done that.  I think this problem is to do with the error message and the asintppc.dll part but I don't know what that is!!

Have you figured out the asintppc.dll issue yet?

We've been getting that fault module while trying to open the title tool on an MC 3.1.3 on an xw8200 running XP SP2 in a Unity / Interplay environment.
