I for one, and I have seen similar posts to the same effect, could REALLY use AVCHD import capability in MC.  Even a secondary program (cost $200 or less) that would import AVCHD into a format that MC could use would be great.  I realize that there are programs out there that do conversion, but an AVID "guaranteed to work" program would be nice.

I was told that AVCHD is way down the list...because it is a "consumer"format....

But hey.....do not forget about: shooting...under water...under cover.....attaching camera to helmet or bike...and so on.

And I know tha AVID always want the codec to be working in every possible situation but how about sarting with us being able to import the footage..this would get os a long way.

I also agree that Native AVCHD or at least importing directly in Media Composer (via transcoding to DNxHD) needs to come along.  Panasonic has a prosumer AVCHD cam out now, and I imagine more will come.  It would be a nice addition.

I remember that it took years before AVID supported JVC Pro HDV (particularly in 24P) and the Canon 24f frame rates.  Please don't delay this feature.  Codec support should not take this long to implement.

I also would like direct transcoding of avchd to DNxHD like FCP supports log and transfer of avchd to pro-Res (perhaps AVID could go one better and allow for batch transcoding utilising multiple pc cores to aid speed of transcoding). I know that avchd direct editing is a bad idea. Currently I either use Cineform Neo Scene or FCP to convert to Pro-Res and then import into AVID. Would be much better if I could simply import direct. I would like to keep the 25 psf frame rate though! Thanks.
