hi all
still configuring my brandnew certified system Dell M6400.
now I have audio stuttering and its off sync even in yellow mode, not to speak about fullscreen mode.
first i thought its just the HD drive, fw400 with EX files (AMA)
switched off virus and other web-progs.
then I copied a DV50i file to my internal drive, but it plays with the same stutter/offsync error.
so appearently nothing to do with HD-throughput.
the onboard audio hardware IDT-HD audio uses the latest driver, I applied the AME tweak described at the system requirements page
tried to tweak sound settings, no change.
one hint maybae: the windows melody at startup sometimes has the same stuttering. but iTunes plays fine w/o probs.
any comment would be highly appreciated!
thx

hi
magus:I applied the AME tweak described at the system requirements page
AME is a registry fix that disables the IDT audio mixer and uses the windows mixer. I did not make a backup before I ran AVID's AME tweak, stupid enough...rule no1-and I knew it-always make backup if you tweak the registry.
thanx to AKA Dave who sent me the original reg.key my MCA uses the IDT audio again. I am not sure if that was the final solution, because at the same time I deinstalled an app that came with my original DELL OS installation. I can say that my M6400 sound works well w/o Avid's AME tweak as Dave's does. Don't know why avid recommended that tweak....might have been another soundcard when they tested
That silly useless prog is named SRS premium sound and after its gone, MCA stopped to stutter even in green fullscreen mode with EX35 1080p/25 files- very nice quality indeed.
perhaps that helps somebody down the road.
cheers
Good to know you got it working and glad I could help.
Dave
I had the same issue with the SRS premium sound - once I deleted it all was well again. But I am also suing the AME tweak without any issues. I know they were having issues with Vista and the sound card, so the AME might be more for Vista users. It certainly isn't hurting anything with XP.
