Before Basics! 3. Lift and Extract between In and Out points

Experienced users of MC probably never give a second thought to such basic concepts. However Newcomers to Non-Linear Editing in general  and Migrants to MC in particular can have difficulty in understanding even simple procedures until they have understood these very basic concepts. Thus the Title - Before Basics.

This tutorial deals mainly with the Lift and Extract  functions. Not the lifting and extracting of clips, but the lifting and extracting of material between the In and Out markers on a timeline. Also it points out some differences between those functions and the Drag & Drop method of editing.

Although I would suggest that newcomers try to get used to Splicing and Overwriting the MC way, there are times when a Drag & Drop approach can be useful.

    Regards,
    Douglas
