What do you use that TV on the ceiling for? Is that your preview monitor?

Re: Show us your edit suite!

    Hi Dude,

That is a 42" Fujitsu HDTV Plasma.

I use it for Halo 2 games on the Xbox, watching movies with the surround sound and sometimes to preview with the mojo output.from AVID Studio  :)

I have an NTSC monitor for checking the video but it is more impressive sometimes to show the client their project on the big screen.  I have also connected the DVI output from a computer and it looks pretty good for showing things if you have several people crowded into the room.  Not good enough to use as a computer monitor for working but not bad otherwise.

If you mean those 23" apple monitors, they are hooked to a PC I built using adc converters.

I am trading them out to the new Dell 30" and hoping that I can get a Dual lnk DVI card to work with the AVID happily.

    Andy Browne,

I use the same 14" TV/Monitor.  Nice 16:9 or 4:3 switch (it's amazing how many TV/Monitors don't have this), component in, AV OUT, including off the air (excellent for capturing TV programs and DVDs via firewire through my DSR-11) and it looks good.  They have a 26" in the same model.  That's next.

Yeah... it was only a matter of rearranging things according to the layout. Cool I keep thinking of how I might rearrange it again, but haven't yet, fwiw.

Btw... I decided to make this thread a sticky. (with over 61,000 views, it qualifies Wink.)

Re: Show off the Suite Baby!!!

    Here's my suite.

I built all the furniture, including the soundproof-temperature controled, vibration proof box that contains the 2 Avid Video Raids, the Adrenaline BOB and both a Mac G5 and HP XW8400. I saw a couple of these boxes at NAB a couple years ago and the manufacturers were giving out all the specs and line drawings. Total cost to build the box, including the thermo activated fans and neoprene vibration isolation mounts was under $600. At NAB, the cheapest one was this size was over $3000.

    Jack:

You did an awesome job building that. It is beautiful and VERY impressive.

I bet you get a lot of great compliments from clients when they first enter your suite.
