Re: Show off the Suite Baby!!!

No, sorry for the confusion. My home edit suite is an Xpress Pro HD w/Mojo. I edit on an Adrenaline at work (reasoning behind the sig pic). As far as the TV mounted on the wall over my head? That is the spot my wife and I chose when we put the thing up. We figured it would be perfect for either clients sitting back on the couch to watch or when the family just needs another room to watch TV in. A dual functioning TV sitting on a desk just wouldn't work. Plus if the next owners want to convert it back to a formal dining room, we figured if we hung it lower (right over the LCD's) they'd be walking right into it. At this position, they'll just have to duck a bit. Plus we took atvantage of the 9ft ceilings and tried to put it up as high as possible for that reason.

Now at my fullitme job, the NTSC monitor is pretty much in the same position so I guess I'm just used to it. I never get neck aches or dizzy spells although I'm sure I won't miss it when the room gets redesigned. It used to be a graphics suite and I believe 3 artists shared that monitor and just spun on a lazy susan type swivel when they needed it. At home, I can live with it for now but once I get functional desk with more tabletop space, I will buy a monitor for myself that will sit on the desk.

The plants? Yuck! and fake by the way. My wife put those up to hide big a#% bolts embedded in the wall. We can't just remove the bolts because we'll have exposed holes where the wallpaper once was. That'll all go away when we paint. Also, I do want some hardy deciduous plants in the corners or at the end of the desk but I'm going to wait till the painting is done.

FAKE PLANTS?!?! I'm sorry to read that.

I am in midst of a couple painting projects, they're always fun.

    Good luck.

Big Smile [:D] Show us your edit suite!

    Hi all

Well everyone goes on about how good their hardware is and how well their machines run, but what does your actuall edit suite look like...?

Let me be the first to show you mine!

Its fairly run of the mill, dual Acer 19" AL1916 monitors, JVC monitor, couple of powered speakers (which i hate) and a DSR-1800 feeding the JVC. My profile has the specs of my machine as i don't want to write it all down again!

Mahince runs like a charm. Clients have always been happy. I'd love to add a Mojo to get more realtime streams, but i'm pretty happy how it is.

So what does your edit suite look like?

is that an uncovered cup of liquid on the left, next to your keyboard?  you would be best served to never do that again... it only takes one silly error to destroy a setup like yours.Crying [:'(]

    Yo

I've never spilt any coffee over my edit suite...

I did once spill a whole hot coffe over my iBook! Turned it off, poured out the coffee and it was fine!

    Q

    What does 'picked up' mean?

This thread has been discussed recently in the Off-Topic/General forum.  Expect this one to get moved soon, too.

Nice-looking suite, however, the whole concept of having a HEAVY video monitor on top of a VCR makes me squirm.  Why not place the deck on TOP of the monitor?

    Take care.

I think my memory sucks, but I forget.
