Hi folks,

I have nvidia drivers 176.53 installed while 169.47 is supported. I have no problems so far and according to nvidia 176.53 boosts performance of my FX3700m.

Now to my "problem": MC complaints at every startup about that "GPU display driver mismatch". In the beginning I thought that feature is cool, since it helps a lot of people avoiding problems. But after the x-th start without problems that message sucks my nerves.  Does anyone know a way to turn this off, without changing the driver?

There is no way, to my knowledge, of disabling the message.  I personally would recommend using the qualified driver, but if you have had no issues I suppose I cannot argue that other than you may run into issues in the future if you are using effects that rely more heavily on GPU processing.

I have that same driver mismatch error. Did you ever do anything about it? Did you download the 169.47 driver? If so, where did you find it?

I use a newer driver in a HP Z800 workstation with the Nvidia FX4800 in Nirtix DX without having the error message

in Avid startup. 

But I will get the error message in a xw8600 + FX 3700 setup

You can find the nvidia 169.47 driver in C:\Program Files\Avid\Utilities\Nvidia

Funny. Maybe because MC doesn't see the 4800 as a supported card (to new)?

The problem I have with using the driver provided by Avid is I run MC on a notebook. So the "normal" Quadro driver does not see my card and fails install with a message like "No supported card found, exiting installation".

No. In fact I have recently updated my driver to 179.50. But the message persists. I am just waiting for Avid to approve a newer version of the driver, I guess, to make it disappear...

Yes, it is dead easy to remove that warning message.

Search for this file in you Avid program directory: QualifiedGpuBoards.txt

Make a backup of it and then open the original in Notepad. Use Find to get to: NVIDIA : 3700 : 169.47 . Edit the "169.47" to whatever driver you are using. Be careful not to touch anything else or mess up the formatting. This is the ONLY "169.47" you should modify. If it all goes wrong then go back to your backup of this file.

Whew, that works like a charm! I "qualified" the driver on my own, very nice trick!

Oaky, I did this trick today and no more annoying message...... BUT.... the split green screen on playback issue came back.

Reinstall the original text file, annoying message is back, no split green screen. Repeat and rinse, exact same phenomena.

I don't get the logic here and would be ecstatic if someone from Avid could shed some light. How can a text file telling the Avid what card is approved cause this playback issue? 

Wouldn't it make sense that when MC detects that your card and/or driver is not certified that it disables or changes the way it uses your hardware to compensate? If you trick MC into believing that your hardware is certified, perhaps it utilizes features of your hardware that may or may not actually work correctly.

This makes perfect sense to me. I'm sorry - remind me - what hardware and driver version were you trying to use?
