Since I started using MC, about a year ago, I have always thought that I needed to render effects with a "blue-dot" before I could play them back.
Just yesterday, while making a Tutorial on AvidFX, I discovered that I could playback un-rendered effects well enough to show me what they would look like after I went back to the timeline and rendered them.
So simple, yet for newcomers like myself - a hidden function.

Douglas,
I have been trying in vain to view your tutorials but I can't seem to achieve the basics. I have Adobe Flash Player 9.0 and I just upgraded to 10.0, neither will play. I also tried the JW Flash player, no good. What am I missing to view your terrific material?

Dave,The only known playback problem I have heard about concerns the Internet Browser that you use.
Here is a quote from Adam Kranitz at Avid:"Are you using Safari or Firefox? Currently Community Videos are not compatible with Safari on Mac, we're working on a solution to that. On Firefox, I've noticed certain Extensions like AdBlock have conflicted with video playback. Feel free to message me through this site to troubleshoot further."
Good luck,Douglas
