I have a client who recorded the VO for their spot in a HUGE kitchen, lots of reverb! Any tips on making the VO sound a bit more dry? Editing on a MC v3.1.2
Thanks,
Rich
That is going to be tough. Have you played with the EQ? It is all relative so if you are cutting between the VO and other material, you might have to add a bit of reverb to everything else.
Yeah I was messing with it for awhile today but needed to move on. It's just one person talking through out the spot. I was hoping that some of it would get lost in the music mix but I can still hear it.
ADR time...

Not near a system, is that in the audo suite plugs?
Additional Dialog Recording. Have the talent re-record whatever they said on camera and dub it in in place of the VO that was recorded with all the reverb.
good luck,Carl
There is no such thing as a video emergency. My Demo Website
Thanks Carl. Unfortunately for me I don't think my client is going to want to admit he made a mistake by recording a VO in a kitchen. Either way I will suggest that they have their "celebrity" talent redo the VO track.
An old sound recording maxim:
You can ADD reverb, but you CAN"T take it away!
It's why you should always record sound 'clean' and 'dry' [as possible].
You can try to remove high frequencies where the reverb is more apparent, but then you end up with muffled dialogue ;)
Less IS More!
You could try using the Gate audiosuite plug-in. It won't be wonderful, but perhaps good enough with music/atmos mixed under.
agreed, gate and compression... and a good audio mixer/sweetener with a pro tools rig. It won't be perfect, but that job is way above audiosuite-land.
Don't trust the internet...
