    Re: Dolby E delivery

We are stumped with Dolby-E and Media Composer.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We have ingested an HDCAM tape into our Media Composer Adrenaline.  Stereo PCM on tracks 1&2 and Dolby-E 5.1 audio on tracks 3&4.  We are using a 48k/24-bit timeline.  The output of our Adrenaline is being sent back to our HDCAM deck which feeds an outboard Videotek scope with a Dolby-E decoder.  We've set the Sony deck to "Burst" audio (data mode) for the Dolby-E tracks. We are listening to the decoded Dolby-E audio on a 5.1 speaker setup in the edit suite powered by a 6-channel amplifier.

We are getting totally inconsistent results when playing back the media in Media Composer with Dolby-E.  The decoded Dolby-E will be perfectly fine during playback of a particular excerpt.  And then - without doing anything to the timeline except stopping and starting - the Dolby-E audio will playback that same excerpt with a mix of program audio and static/hiss.  And this is reproducable - simply stopping and starting playback - the Dolby-E audio will go back and forth between fine and then mixed with static/hiss.  We are not manipulating the media in any way or making any edits - this is all occuring right after the capture to DNxHD-145.

Originally we thought it was a deck issue but clearly things are pointing to the software now.  This is Media Composer 2.8.4 on an HP xw8200.

Any thoughts on what might be causing these inconsistent results?  There appears to be something corrupting the audio output essentially every other time the video is playing.
