Hi all,
Would greatly appreciate help with following problem, I'm trying to capture dv 25 footage using 411 mxf from a normal home dv camera through firewire 400 onto an external HD connected via firewire 800. I log my clips, select the video and audio tracks, hit capture, it plays the tape while the light flashes, when capture stops, it gives a 'track - 12451 not found' error message and no footage is captured.
However if I deselect the audio tracks, it captures the video just fine, nut when i enable the audio tracks again, it gives the same error.
Ive tried to capture without using deck control and even tried default capture without logging clips and i get the same error, no footage is captured. Ive tried googling the error and was unsuccessful in finding any answer. If anybody has a solution to this then PLEASE share your knowledge, thanks!!!
It seems that the ion-adaptor that should be interfacing between the 804 and the 302 spectrum analyzer is reading the captured footage as incoherently inadequate. What I would do is post my system specifications because most of us on the boards are not mind readers and it could be any number of issues that you don't even come close to giving us a hint about.

my system specs are:
Model Name: MacBook Pro 17"
Model Identifier: MacBookPro2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.33 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 3 GB
Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1600
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
HD: Capacity: 93.16 GB
hope this helps!
Yopu might get that error if your audio project setting differs from ther sample rate on the tape. If you r project setting is 48 khz try 32 or vice versa
the audio setting and the recorded audio on tape are both 48k, iv tried changing around but still hasnt made any difference
I had this once, but I was only successful when "dragged" media drive to the privacy tab, in spotlight/system preferences, then it was possible to capture audio and video over FW on a MCSoft. Sorry if you knew/tried that.
How was that for you? OK? well...YAWIA (you're welcome in advance)
ill try that and let u know, hopefully it should fix the problem!!! thanks!!
I am also having this problem... and I tried your solution. Unfortunately that didn't work for me. Any other suggestions?
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but in order to capture over FireWire to a FireWire drive, the source deck (or camcorder) and the disk need to be on different segment busses. The FW ports on the Mac laptop are on the same bus, so it is not supported in that config. I think you can get around it by using a CardBus expansion card for the drives, when capturing over the onboard port.
I am trying to capture through the firewire onto my lacie rugged drive (FW 800). But I also tried going straight to my hard drive and that did not work either.
Same as the other guy, it picks up vision-only fine, but does not bring the audio with it...
Any further suggestions considering this extra information would be appreciated....
Tom.
I should also state that it is capturing into fcp without any dramas...
Why don't you use FCP then? Not to create an FCP v Avid debate (there are too many) but use the tool for the job that works.
Thanks - but that is not altogether constructive feedback. Of course I would use the platform most suited to the job - but when 40hours of footage for a feature documentary already exists within the project, switching to fcp wouldn't be ideal, would it? And if this is the solution to every problem (simply switching to another way of working) then no one will ever find any troubleshooting answers to these questions, will they?

A sentiment that has served Avid oh so well over the past seven years.
