Hello,
I'm trying to find out how well the latest version of media composer will run on the new 2.4ghz Macbook (not Pro)
Has anyone tried installing and cutting with it?
I know people will want to post that MacBooks are not supported and all that great stuff. And that I should be using a MacBook Pro if I was doing any serious editing. Yes I know, but codecs have come a long way for OFFLINE and laptops keep getting faster.
The new Macbooks have Nvidia 9400M's in them and even though they're using shared memory, it is still better then what it used to be (Intel GMA).
Thanks in advance. - Daniel
The new (silver) macbooks don't have firewire, so I'd avoid that one. However, I run my 3.0 MC on the 1st Gen White Macbook (Intel GMA 950), i have it hooked to a 24" Dell Monitor when I actually edit. I have been able to get away with 2 streams of DVCPRO HD while doing multicam. Forget about color correction though, computer doesn't move fast enough for me. I also store the media on a firewire external hard drive just to keep as much off of the local storate as possible. SD stuff is beautiful though, fast, quick, easy.
The really annoying thing is exporting takes forever...heh. I only do tiny side projects, I'd never do anything huge, that is what the labs at work are for. :).
