There are many reasons why one would want to choose different colours for different clips ranging from "a well thought out colour scheme to help identify clips" to "a desire to look trendy"!Although the changing of track colours is easy to find.... changing the individual clips on a track to different colours is not so obvious at first.

Again Douglas, nice work. In addition to what you've shown, if you deselect all tracks in the timeline, you can then change the background color behind the timeline.

Also, if you Zoom in using the Scale bar under the timeline, you can see the curves much better.
