Audio has never been my strong point.Any simple and straightforward way I can find of working with audio is of great interest to me.Here is my description of how I manually adjust audio gain without getting tied in knots. This is really a follow up to my first Audio tutorial - Audio Gain and Keyframes.

A nice way to adjust keyframes without expanding your tracks to a bigger size is by mapping the fast forward and the rewind functions to the A and S keys. In normal edit mode the A and S keys still behave the same, (move from cut to cut), but when the Automation Gain Mixer is activated, you can jump from keyframe to keyframe with the A and S keys. (As in Effect mode)
Now you can precisely adjust levels in the Autonation Gain tool, either by using the sliders or by typing in values.
