Is there an ideal way to burn Avid sequences with Sorensen? I am exporting them via Quicktime Movie and burning as .m2v. The picture comes out fine but there is no sound. What am I missing? Thanks, Nick Phillips
m2v is a video only file. When exporting from Sorenson you probably have "Elementary" selected. You should be getting a m2a file as well, which is the audio. Add the m2v and the m2a to a timeline in your authoring program and you should have video and sound. as an alternative, select "Program" and you'll get an mpeg file that contains video and sound.
I'm assuming you are compressing for DVD. Correct?
You'll get a better looking file and a quicker eport from Avid if you export FROM Avid as a 'Quicktime Reference' file. Then compress with Sorensen.

I'm not a Sonic user, I use Encore, so I can't help you there. Sounds like you need the disc to start playing a timeline without having any menus? When I did use Sonic, DVDit 5 I think, it had a "First Play" option, like Encore does. If so, just set the timeline you need to play as "First Play". This probably doesn't help you much though if Sonic changed the way that works. Cheers!
Nickmarios:I have to put the mpg file through yet another process in Sonic which seems a waste of time

luca.mg: I export QT reference and let Sonic do the encoding (bypass Sorenson), You get playback settings on the bottom right corner.
I'd like to add my voice to Luca's in suggesting that users try bypassing Sorenson.I realise that becasue of the many combinations of codecs/resolutions/formats/ etc. etc. that for some (Many?) it will be necessary to go through Sorenson. Also there are some who don't like waiting until Sonic does the transcoding........ whereas they don't mind waiting until Sorenson has done it - in the belief that they are saving some time making compliant files.
My thoughts have always been that Sonic is written to do its own transcoding (where necessary) so hopefully it is designed to do that in an efficient manner.Sorenson is a great programme with many possible settings - that can give rise to human errors!
If you are going through Sorenson, and you have a spare moment one day, take some time and try going direct into Sonic via QT reference files.

Can't help you there, Nick. Didn't even know that option exists in Sorensen. Have to take a look though, seems like a good option for quickly testing the results on a TV, if it works that is...
