    Disappearing Effects Editor

    Hello Everyone!

I have noticed that when I am in effects mode and click anywhere in the timeline except on another effect, the effect editor closes and requires re-opening to edit another effect.  I never noticed this behavior in XpressPro and have done a search through this site and my settings to see if I have something "turned off" that was on by default previously, but I haven't been able to find anything.

    Tis normal behavior.

You could hotkey the editor in order to make it easier for you to open/close.

    Re: Disappearing Effects Editor

If you work in a toolset, open the effect editor and "save current" in the toolset menu, the effects editor should stay open as long as you're in that particular toolset.

    Hi Larry,

I thought the same thing, the effects pallette stays open, but the editor closes.  I never remember this behavior in XpressPro.  To work around a mapped the effects editor to a mouse button, so i only have a quick finger click to restore.

Hope all is well with you,

    Brad

    Re: Disappearing Effects Editor

    Hi Brad:

That's strange because I had the effect editor tool keep popping up in my "edit" toolset...I must have inadvertently done a "save current" with it open, because when I closed it and did a "save current" it stayed closed.

    Re: Disappearing Effects Editor

I may try rebuilding my user settings to see if that changes anything.  I did customize my Effect Editor toolset and did a save current (more than once, maybe that is the problem) and switched from effects to source/record and back and all windows open, the editor just doesn't stay open unless I am parked on an effect.

It shouldn't be like that: the effect editor should close if You click on the TC track, clicking anywhere else on the timeline "clears" the effect editor but the window itself remains open; make sure you're not hitting the TC track.

    Re: Disappearing Effects Editor

I don't understand why it would do that, I still have my Effect toolset active and want to play back maybe the minute or so prior th the effect I just added to get a feel for the timing.  Then if I need to change anything in the effect I have to re-open the editor.  I think it should stay open until I switch my toolset.

    Re: Disappearing Effects Editor

Sorry luca, I just re-read your post.  In my system the editor doesn't just clear, I would expect that, but the window actually closes and I have to re-open it.  Thanks for your input.

To edit an effect after the effect window has been cleared You would need to park the blue line over it and re-enter effect mode: the steps/clicks involved would be the same wether the effect windows remains open or not.

    Re: Disappearing Effects Editor

When I choose my effects toolset, which I have customized with a large effects monitor and tools on the composer monitor, I can click anywhere in the interface including the time code track and never leave the effects mode.
