Drag & Drop to create sub-clips

As a newcomer to MC I continue to look for alternative methods of doing things. Only a few weeks ago I was introduced to the concept of drag & drop in MC, as a way to create subclips.
I find it very useful if I want to use more than 1 sub-clip from captured material.

Yes, I do this if a narrator sends me one long clip and I want to name each paragraph and take number.  With the Mac, it is Option>drag to bin.

You can also map Subclip to your keyboard.  I shoot a lot of jewelery and typically capture the whole tape, then subclip out each individual piece.  I mark my In with I, Out with O, then mapped my Subclip to the Tab key.  Once I have my In and Out marked I hit Tab.  It drops a subclip in my bin and activates it, so I name it then hit Ctrl+4 to immediately reactivate the source monitor.  Using J-K-L to quickly shuttle around the clip I can cut a thirty minute clip into 20-30 subclips in just a few minutes by using only the keyboard.  Saves your wrist by avoiding mouse movements, and I find it faster too.

Great tutorial.  I don't know how you have time to make all these, but I'm glad you do!

Great idea, Michael, I like using the keyboard more, too, and your method is very quick.  Thanks!
