I'm tryig to capture video from 2 HDV cameras with diffierent Video formats. I initially captured in 1080i from my Canon XH A1 which captured fine. I then attempted to capture from my JVC GY-HD110U. When I added the JVC as a new Deck it only gave me the option to connect as a HD100. Once I did that the formats offered was DVCPRO and 1080i. If I select DVCPRO, I get a message indicating no input signal. If I select 1080i, I get an error indicating that there was a format mismatch 720/1080.
My guess is that the project is set at 1080i and the camera is capturing at 720p. My question is am i going to be able to mix shots from these 2 camera's and how? I'm using Media Composer 3.0 and capturing through firewire.
Well you can change the project type, capture the 720 material and then transcode one or the other to match. Which is best to run with will depend on the material and the look you want.
Why to transcode?
MC has an open timeline.
When you want to capture to a new format just change the project type at format options.
