I have a Mac OS X 10.5.5 system running Avid Media Composer 3.0.5. I just installed Pro Tools LE 7.4.2 and a Digidesign 003.
Now, whenever I set the audio input or output (in System Preferences) to be the Digidesign 003, Avid says "EXCEPTION: FAILED TO INITIALIZE AUDIO HARDWARE"
Everything worked perfectly prior to installing the Digidesign 003
If I set the audio input/output to be the standard Line In/Line Out, Avid loads just fine.
I planned to use the Digidesign 003 as my system audio (just like I did with my M-Audio Projectmix i/o), but it doesn't seem to work properly.
Any suggestions?
Last I looked, the 003 was only supported on windows. Could have changed though.

There are Core Audio only drivers for OS X 10.5, which means this system will work without Pro Tools LE on OS X and there are drivers to make that happen.
I've solved the problem temporarily by adding a second set of speakers and using the Digi 003 for Pro Tools only, but this is a lame solution to a simple issue of audio driver conflicts.
Surely someone has Avid MC 3 and Pro Tools LE 7.4 running on OS X together?
