    MC 30 unable to see AG-DV2500P Deck

    using MC software 3.0 with MOJO SDI.

    I have a Panasonic AG-DV2500P on loan to do a project with standard sized DVC tape. Running the deck via firewire, the Deck Configuration menu lists this in it's deck list, and when I select it via OHC or DNA I get the "no signal present" error.

    have searched the forums for problems related to the AG-DV2500 but nothing seems to come up.

    I've tried the following configurations (all connections firewire)

    Deck -> Mojo -> Computer

    Deck -> Computer (Mojo ON)

    Deck -> Computer (Mojo OFF)

    I've also tried powering up the computer with the MOJO & deck both OFF as well as with them both ON as well as one on and the other off (etc.. etc..)

    I am able to capture from and record to my Sony HVR Z1 without any problems over the same SIIG firewire card.

    I have also done checks to make sure the Firewire cables are all functioning.

    I'm about out of ideas... I have about a day and a half before I have to start digitizing for my project

    anyone have any similar experiences?

    (-also if there is a thread somewhere discussing this very topic, my apologies for the repost, I would gladly take a link to a previous discussion that specifically addresses connecting MC to the panasonic AG-DV2500P)

    cheers!

    ~Kev

    Normally I use my Sony HVR Z1 to digitize and output,

    We've seen this quesiton a lot here lately. Most times this ends up to be a menu set wrong on the deck itself. Plug the deck directly into your CPU and make sure it is set to output in your desired format.

    Re: MC 30 unable to see AG-DV2500P Deck

    Thanks for the quick reply!

    I fished through the deck settings menu, it's on loan, so I don't have a user's manual onhand, i'll try to find one online to help navigate the menu's but from what appears to be the standard menu's i've dealt with from similar decks/cameras in the past, still no love from the AG-DV2500.

    If anyone is using this deck with their MC, I'd love to know what relavent settings are being used.

    I'm a little embarrassed since the deck is on loan from a friend who won't shut up about his FCP setup.  I'm really chomping at the bit to solve this cuz (as our friends like to do) I'm really getting razzed.  The "I just plug it into my laptop and FCP just sees it without any of that configuring stuff" comments are starting to really get old.  -there's only so many more "well FCP is designed for idiots so they have to make it dummy-proof" come-backs I can use. =)

    [Update]

    My friend was just here with his FCP and laptop and using the same IEEE cable I've been using, connected to the deck, was able to control and digitize without a problem. now, granted it's HIS deck, so i'm sure it was already configured for his FCP but at least it ruled out a cable-problem, and I know the deck is functioning correctly via firewire connection... just doesn't seem to connect to my MC... althouth as stated, the Sony Z1 connects fine, reads TC, digitizes, etc...

    Tried both the SIIG IEEE card (T.I. chipset) and the built-in IEEE port that direct conects to the motherboard.

    Z1 works, AG-DV2500P no love.

    (hope that helps)
