How do I seperate my video from audio?

    I am new to this...

I tried to export the video from a mixed clip in Avid Free DV by clicking "Export", then selecting "Video Only" in the options... But when I go ahead with the export up pops an error box "errcode; 8961".

    Help?!

    Hi,

We need to know a few things in order to help.  First, what are your system specifications (processor type & speed, amount of RAM, video card, what version of Quicktime is installed on the system), and second, what are you trying to achieve?  Are you exporting for the web or DVD or something else?

    good luck,
    Carl

Re: How do I seperate my video from audio?

    Hi,

My OP system is Windows Vista 32-bit, AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 4000+ 2.60GHz, RAM 767 MB.

I believe I have Quicktime 6.1? installed. I would like to add in my own music to my editing. So what I was trying to do was just seperate my mixed video so that I could import my own audio. So i tried to export video only, but then the errcode 8961 popped up.

    Thanks for your response.

i would try to delete the sound on the tracks and add my own rather than  export a video trk  or you could do a video mix down and open a new sequence and add the mixdown video trk and your music mix

I'm sorry, but Free DV, which is now an "end of life" product, was never qualified to run on Vista in any flavor.

Mount your sequence, activate all audio tracks present, mark in at the beginning of the sequence and mark out at the end, then delete.

Re: How do I seperate my video from audio?

You're welcome. Keep in mind if DV Free has the "Avid Attic" folder, and you needed your audio timeline back, you could find it there in a version of the sequence made before the point in time (today) when it was deleted.

Or alternately, make a clone of the sequence before you delete the audio.
