    Hi,

In order to help, we need to know your system specifications, and what version of Xpress Pro you're using.

    good luck,

dude... Vista not approved, don't you know?... Avid has plenty problems with audio without giving it the unapproved platform to start with.

Maybe try XP pro? It would seem a good idea for starters...

    Hi,

    perek:

Both Windows XP and Avid Xpress Pro are end of life, and Xpress Pro isn't supported under Vista.  If I were you, I'd give serious consideration to upgrading to Media Composer.

If not, I was able to get XPress Pro running under Vista, but only after tediously going through all the .exe files in the installer, and then all the .exe files in the installed program folders and changing their properties to run in XP compatibility mode (I was bored and wanted to see if it would work).

Even if you did this, there's no guarantee that you'd get audio.  We don't even know what audio card your computer has.

    good luck,
    Carl

Once you have your edit system running reliably, turn all automatic updates off!!!!  Unexpected updates done at the whim of an outside supplier can break Avid, and be very hard to track down and fix.

In fact it's better not to access the internet with that machine at all.

    Re: no audio

this is a laptop, so there is no "card"... i think this is the problem here.

it's an onboard chip (i think by SigmaTel).
