    Through any analog to digital converter.

    When we need to bring VHS tapes from clients into the Avid, we first copy the VHS to a DVD, then use Cinematize to import the DVD.

    or you could use a digital deck that accepts analogue video from a VHS player and converts it and get it into Avid via the firewire link. A simple sony DSR-11 could do that.
