I've upgraded to MC 2.8 recently. I've been running Xpress Pro for a long time with no deck problems. I'm using a Canon ZR65 as my deck. Now that I've upgraded, MC no longer sees the deck. The computer recognizes the device, just not MC. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled MC several times with no luck. I am not using Mojo and I am trying to capture SD footage.. The deck is plugged directly into the card. I've gone to special and made sure the device was selected. I'm on a Dell laptop. I don't know what the problem could be. I've searched through other posts, but many of them did not have resolutions.
I also upgraded another computer here and it has no problem seeing the deck. It works just fine.
I would appreciate any help on the subject as I have to be able to export to dv and can't go back to Xpress Pro with the updated dongle.
Have you tried opening the console to see if any errors are logged? I had this today on a MC 3.0 machine, and I had to delete all the firewire ports in Settings/Deck Config, then re-add them before it would work. I've had this happen a few times; not sure what causes it. Could be switching between several cameras in the same project perhaps, or switching between HDV & DV.
I have tried deleting the deck controller settings and that doesn't help. I only use this one camera for a deck so there is no switching.
Any more ideas? Someone must have a solution.
I had a problem like this with MC 3.0. The solution was to exit MC, start a tape playing in the camcorder, start MC and then start the capture tool, at which point Check Decks recognized that there was a firewire device attached.
