    NICKB:
Avid would do well to buy them and bundle it with MC4 so that Avid does not stay on an island on its own.

We recently seeing a growing request from some of our FCP clients to move their FCP offline projects and online with Symphony (another argument to keep the Symphony name vs MC).

Version 4 allows you to export an OMF or AAF with embeded media. I have done several tests. However, the first real world test for us will be next week, a one hour HD documentary. We will see how well it does.

Re: What I want for XMas

    That's getting better.

'Expires 12/31 ' is a very short offer time, sounds to me like they are clearing unsold stock ready for a new product as i suspect the basic DX has not been selling compared to the Nitris box whose price point is less of a problem.

The market decides the price not the company!

Re: What I want for XMas

12/31 is mostly a call to action. they're trying to snag whatever year end money is out there.

As was said - It's a step in the right direction. I think at under $5K it becomes a much more attractive product. It's not perfect, but it's the best we have today to offer HD I/O in MC3.

I wish You were right regarding a new product, while 5000 seem to be quite high as a clearance price!

The $5K price tag is for XpressPro or MC 2.x customers and (if you remember) is the same cost as MCsoft was just about 6 months or so ago.

So, for anyone still on MC 2.x or XpressPro, this is an awesome deal.  Seems they are essentially giving you the MC 3.x software for free.  I say kudos to Avid for offering it.

Re: What I want for XMas

If they can make the price hold, then Avid now has a fair deal.

I would guess you could build a complete Avid media composer system for around $10,000 thats cheap enough for anyone who edits for real money.

Re: What I want for XMas

Over the weekend I received several inquiries from Media Composer 3.x owners looking to purchase just the Mojo DX hardware on this promotion. This morning I went in and added it as an option to our Mojo DX page.

Mojo DX hardware only for Media COmposer 3.x owners $4,495
