    Compositing

    Hello,

Would appreciate any assistance with this situation.

Looking to move an animatte on V3 without moving the background layer underneath on V1.

    Thanks,

    Peter

Animatte doesn't actually have an Matte/Fill relationships so ther is not way to move it in the way you are describing. If you want to create a Matte/Fill that moves, I do this in photoshop. I export a still to photshop, create the matte, import it into Avid as a RT matte key and simply jump in ad replace the fill with moving video. Then you can move that matte at will.

Thanks for the heads up...seems like something I'd like to be able to do in the Avid without going to an outside app. Back to the drawing board.

    Peace,

    Peter

Do you have Avid FX? If so, this is something you can do with it (I believe).

You could make your animatte black and white do a mixdown or two and turn it into a matte key.

    Re: Compositing

I thought the animatte creates an alpha channel based on a mask on the source layer, and animating the mask only affects the mask itself, not the source layer. Am I missing something?
