"bus error" in thread "main thread," at address oxo"

I know this has been discussed here before, and I've read some of the threads regarding this issue,

but I did not find a solution, if there is one.

"bus error" in thread "main thread," at address oxo"

i get the above error message whenever I close my Avid MC program.

Sometimes while i'm editing it will pop up and then when I click OK,

    Avid crashes.

what is this, and what do i do about it?
Has Avid found a solution for this error yet?

    thanks

If you are not on MC 3.0,then yes, a lot of the bus errors were fixed in 3.0.

Ok, disconnect your storage and see if the error happens when you close the app.

Re: "bus error" in thread "main thread," at address oxo"

The problem is caused by the installation of additional fonts on the Mac.  The workaround
is to remove the caption.avx from the AVX 2 folder.  Removing this, however, will also disable
subcap feature.  Avid Engineering has not determined which font or fonts are causing this as yet.
You can try adding a folder, calling it disabled fonts and move 1/2 of your fonts into the disabled
      folder.

but wait there is more....   A search of the Mac fonts folder showed windows
fonts. Once these were removed,  Composer would launch with the subcap avx
    active

Re: "bus error" in thread "main thread," at address oxo"

For a while now I was running OSX 10.5.3 and MC 3.0.0 rock solid, no isses what so ever. Last week I've upgraded to 10.5.5 - 3.0.5 and I started getting bus errors and segmentation faults at exit and sometimes while editing..

I dont have any fonts installed. Any way to get the stability of 10.5.3 - 3.0.0 back ?

    Cheers

Did you uninstall prior to upgrading?  Are you using SCSI drives?  If so, you'll need to upgrade the ATTO drivers.

I'm using only sata drives and external USB drives.

I didn't uninstall first. Would it help if I uninstall - reinstall ? If so, what should I backup in order not to loose any settings ?

You HAVE to uninstall first... it's a requirement.  Just back up your projects, though they should be fine anyway.  Run the uninstallers on any and all versions of Avid and then Re-Install.

What defines a "Windows" font?  Cuz I'm having the same problem.
