Is there a way to get a 60 min sequence with Camera 1 on V1, Camera 2 on V2 and Camera 3 on V3 to behave as a multicam clip?
The problem is that the footage has been shot on P2 which creates quite a few 2GB MXF files plus I have no synced timecode on my footage. Basically I would like to manually sync all bits and pieces in my timeline, but I can not get a sequence to run as a multicam clip. I know that I can mixdown each track and group them, but isn't there an easier way to get through this?
Grouping Sub-sequences (one for each Camera) does not work, mixing down each track takes too long and I would loose my Metadata, creating one group clip for each 2GB MXF file is pretty much impractical since they don't have synced timecode. Isn't there a way to open a grouped clip as a sequence? I tried to find any documentation on this, but I had no luck.
Thanks,

This concept is a natural and has been asked for many times over the years. It is similar to the idea of "Sequence as Source" which we also need.

Maybe you can add your voice to that request.
meanwhile, you have plenty of workarounds and what works best depends on your project. Good luck.

If your media has been correctly imported into Avid the metadata should ensure that the individual 2 GB MXF files link to master clips of the same duration as the master recording. You shouldn't need to create a sequence to tie them together. Avid should handle it the same way as it handles OMFI media, which also has a maximum file size of 2 GB. How was the media imported?
It happened to me when I recorded using FireStore which was unable to add metadata to tell NLE those files are one clip. The only solution for me was to create a sequence for every camera. FireStore was attached to the computer. Then I deleted unused audiotracks and exported the sequence as QuickTime Reference. After that I imported the QuickTime reference. This way I got media files and one long clip.

Thanks for asking, that would have been my next question. Indeed I used a HVX200 and a Firestore and I ran into the problem that importing P2 media resulted in 2GB clips. I assume that this a Firestore problem, importing from a P2 card works just fine. This is the reason why I ended up with one track in a sequence for each camera.
I would really appreciate the feature of using sequences as multicam sources or as source clips. I worked on quite a few TV productions where this feature would have saved days and Terabites. Oh, yes, and nerves!
