Any idea? I have BCC, Sapphire and Avid FX but not sure how to use the ray effects so that the text actually appears with the light.

 You can get there using one of Sapphire's effects.  I think it's called edge rays - sorry not in front of the box right now.  Anyway, the trick to seeing the text is to lay the text on 2 tracks.  On the bottom track apply the "light rays" effect.  The top track is simply the text with a glow applied, it's needed because the effect on the bottom track destroys the legibility of the text.  Revealing the text can be as simple as animating the cropping or a more complicated approach is to use a hi contrast layer to control the masking.
