    Video won't play in source/record-monitors

I know this is a problem many have had, but I couldn't find a solution anywhere.

As I said, video won't play in source/record-monitors. Audio plays just fine. Monitors update to display the correct frames when I move the cursor. Video plays just fine in the monitor connected to the Mojo.

I have tried several Quicktime/Nvidia-driver configurations to see if that would help (6.5.2, 7.0.4, 7.1.3/77.18, 162.65, 169.69), but to no avail.

Windows XP Pro SP3, Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.2.4 w/Mojo DNA, Quicktime 7.0.4, HP xw4300 Workstation - 3GB RAM - 3,6 GHz, NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400 - 128MB driver... [view my complete system specs]

Do you have anything else on a FW port?

FWIW I was perplexed with the same symptons on a Mac MC 3 a couple of days back (no Mojo attached) Turned out to be a result of my leaving a DV transcoder (Laird) connected and turned on after quitting a Protools session. Disconnecting the Laird instantly solved the problem.

Nothing else connected. I've gone over the config several times, and nothing seems to be wrong.

Most of the time this is due to an incompatible video card. What NVIDEA card do you have in there?

Sorry, is it the 1400 in your profile? Reason I ask is the specs look to be fairly old. Want ot get confirmation of which card and software version you are using.

Driver Helper Service? Could you provide the instructions here. Thank you.

Yes, I always disable the helper whenever I reinstall the graphics driver.

Does anyone know if there could be something in the Windows XP SP3-update that could be causing the problem?

    Hi,

    MichaelPaine:
Does anyone know if there could be something in the Windows XP SP3-update that could be causing the problem?

Was it working before the SP3 update?

    good luck,

    What is this "helper" called?

I can't find anything called "helper" on my system. In fact, it sounds like a non computer term.

And, HOW you do you "disable" it.

Check the readme file that comes with your version of Pro under the head "configuring your nvidia card"

Re: Video won't play in source/record-monitors

The system (I should say systems, we have four Avid workstations) was working fine both before and after I installed SP3, and had been working fine with both newer (169.96) and older (77.18) versions of the Nvidia driver.

After the umpteenth Nvidia driver reinstall, I got it working again with the 169.96.

Thanks for the help. Sometimes Avid baffles me. Anyone else experience that? ;-)

IF I had the Readme I would have read it. I have the same problem under an earlier version and thought this fix MIGHT solve my problem. Can't hurt to try it.

Re: Video won't play in source/record-monitors

If you have an Avid install you must have the readme.  It's either in the root directory of the CD/DVD, or it's in the root of the zip file.

Re: Video won't play in source/record-monitors

"If you have an Avid install you must have the readme."

So, if I have AN Avid -- any Avid -- I must have THE readme with the RELEVANT instructions. I also have a MC, which is an Avid, does that mean I MUST have THE readme?

The poster has an Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.2.4. I don't have HIS version! So, why would I expect to have HIS Readme? Or, are you claiming every Avid ever made has THE RELEVANT readme?

And, I continue to wonder if there is anything called a "helper." There's information on OpenGL and CONSOLE commands in MY readme, but I don't remember anything about a "helper."

And, no I didn't install graphics drivers -- I've got a brand new PC. So, it's a bit hard to "not install" the so-called "helper."

What's the big deal in explaining the answer in detail? Can it be that hard to explain?

Then, as I said. "... this fix MIGHT solve my problem. Can't hurt to try it."
