I wanted to start importing direct microphone sound into my Avid System using a microphone. Previously i have been using a camera attached by firewire, and talking into a mic on that. I believe somebody told me to do this directly, I need a USB mic.
If anyone could elaborate on this more to me that would be great, If this is correct, and where to get a good usb mic and etc. Thanks
You can use a standard mic via a preamp connected to your Avid I/I interface...i.e. soundcard.
The quality of the recording is relative to the quality of your mic and preamp. Fortunately, there are some good Korean made mics that compete well with the industry standards...such as Apex. http://www.apexelectronics.com/
I assume that with a USB mic you won't need a preamp though...although we don't use a USB mic.
