I'm fairly new to Media Composer and the Avid family so please forgive me if this is an ultra-basic question.
I'm using an internal SATA drive for the video files (not the system drive). It's getting pretty full so I need to backup/clean up this drive. I don't have the space to back it up entirely so I need to get some of the Avid files onto the backup drive and delete others. How do I do this without trashing/destroying/losing the files? I've searched the 'net and the forums without much luck.
Can somebody point this Avid rookie in the right direction?
Thanks folks!

What you want is to use the consolidation function. This will allow you to create a discreetly duplicate set of media and pointer files on the other drive.

If you want to do a controlled copy and/or delete, you should explore MDV. It's available at this link also. It's a free third party media management tool, and it's very good - I use it myself, as do a lot of others here. Both pages are on Russian websites, but there's enough english there for you to be able to work out how to download it.
Thanks folks! I'll look into both options.
