So you want to get ProRes QT's into your Windows Avid??

    Now you can-

    http://tinyurl.com/55gwkx

follow that link, and you'll have a decoder for ProRes that will allow you, along with QT 7.5 to import ProRes Quicktimes into your Avid- Seen this working with WinXP and Avid versions 2.7.2 and 2.8. Quicktime 7.5 presented no problems to either of those versions of Composer. If you want to try it with something else, use at your own risk. Badda bing, badda boom. tell the snotty kid from down the street, No, we don't have to F-ing finish in FCP JDS

Wonder what sort of cross conversion quality hit you take going from ProRes 422 HQ to DNxHD 220 (or there abouts)?

Sadly (maybe) today is my last day at my current job - not going to have access to FCP suites as easily at new job.

    We'll see.

Well, maybe a little bit... I'm totally willing to trade my one FCP suite here for two DS suites there... :)

Re: So you want to get ProRes QT's into your Windows Avid??

What I am curious about is if anyone has taken a FireWire or PCIe connected I/O device (Kona, Multi-bridge, V4HD etc.) and put it in the MC 3 machine.  Then, depending on hardware choice, you could use the Pro-Res CODEC or DVCPro HD CODEC for capture, and import into MC3 for editing.

I doubt you would get real-time HD monitoring during edit sessions, but maybe it would be a reasonabley priced compromise in place of DX hardware.
