    Quick Time Reference Export Problem

     Hi Every one,

I'm quite new with media composer mac system but I have a cuple of yers experience with pc.

At the moment I'm working on a fim what has been shoot by a Panasonic HWX 200. But the first cuple of day there used a diferent camera that's why 10% of the footage is made by 720/50p and the rest with 1080/50i  both with DVCPRO HD codec. I thought that I made two diferent project with the diferent setting after I will exporting from the 720/50i project the footage with quick time reference, and import to the other project and everithing fine.

But unfortunatly I have a problem whit qt reference export. All of the media have made by dvcpro hd codec. Any time when I export qt reference I can not play back on the desktop with qt player. The sound is all right but the pictute is black and nothing on it, and if I inport to the other Avid project is same as in the qt palyer. I hade a same problem on pc but now I working on a quite big Mac Pro and this Problem is still exist.

I all ready instald the Calibrated{Q} MXF Import and DVCPR HD codec on it but is just the demo version yet.

If some one has an idel why the Quick Time Reference export not working or how I can transfer the footage from one frmat to the other.  It is would be wonderfull.

Many thanks If you read my post, I'm so sorry about my english.

Re: Quick Time Reference Export Problem

    Hi Balna,

I'd try this: Make a copy of your sequence, then make a video mixdown of all your video tracks, and edit that onto V1 of the copy.  Then make a Quicktime reference movie from the copy.

    good luck,

    Carl

Re: Quick Time Reference Export Problem

     Thanks Carl,

It's a good ideal I will try. But no way just export this footage as it is? Just becouse the Qt reference export was working every time with out problem just this DVCPRO  HD codec make prolem like this. I have to export nerly 2h footage in peaces, I allredy tryd to transcode but this way I lose the aspect ratio. Tht's why I want to export.

    Mny thanks

Re: Quick Time Reference Export Problem

It's my assertion that acceptable Quicktime Reference exports have not worked effectively on Avid since OS9.  That's my experience, that's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

Please refer to this thread. Evidently clicking use Avid DV codec will fix the issue. http://community.avid.com/forums/p/62381/349912.aspx#349912
