Guys,
I've noticed that sometimes in the Capture Tool, although the Audio Delay dropdown menu is there, you can't actually change it.
Tried various different Audio settings.
Anyone else seen this?
Ra-ey Q: "How many Editors does it take to change a lightbulb?" A: "Why do you want to change it?"
Some formats have inherent delay when capturing. This includes 24p DV via firewire (1-2 fields). The original DVX-100 had this (it was fixed in revision B models).
It can also be used in conjunction with video processing hardware as they too will introduce video delay (like Teranex Mini, which adds about 4 frames of video delay).

Dom,
That's exactly what we use it for. We have a Terenex and add 4 frames delay when we Up/Down cconvert. Only, it wouldn't change...
Gonna have a proper look at it again today - sure it was changeable the other day.
Check this...
"If the input signal is not DV when you choose your IN point, the audio that lines up with the IN point should remain in sync with the captured media. The video is what shifts in the captured media. If the input signal is a DV signal however, then the audio shifts."
So am I reading thia correctly. Have they taken out the ability to change the audio delay if the source isn't DV/HDV?
This never used to be the case and if it is, would be a problem for us. Or am i missing some new setting somewhere?
I think you cant do it with certain connection combo (like SDI audio/SDI video).
With non firewire source it is saying that In point is used for audio and video is adjusted. This is the reverse for firewire where the In point is for the video and audio is adjusted. I will try to test tomorrow.
To use the Terenex (from SD sources - non firewire) we've always gone in HD-SDI/SDI Video and AES Audio (as this was the only way to get the 4 frame delay) and it's worked perfectly. If we can't do this in v3 we're gonna be really stuck in the Online.
Thanks for checking into it.
