I exported a quick time movie of a music video from final cut, and have lost the original project, and have no further access to Final Cut.
I imported to Avid, and was going to use for reference and recut the music video, but the quick time looks fine. Do you think is good enough quality for broadcast?
I can't test it by putting onto DVD as I have no DVD discs.

How on earth can anyone answer that question? You're calling for an objective assessment of footage that we can't see!
We don't know the original codec that FCP used, we don't know what format you're using in Avid, and testing it by putting it onto DVD certainly won't tell you whether it's broadcast quality or not. Can you perhaps export a test section and have it evaluated at broadcast facility? That really is the only way to definitively answer your question.
Hi,
Yeah, I think it looks great! Oh, wait a sec, how do I know? I can't see it. Can you post a sample, or tell us how it was exported from FCP and what resolution you're using in Xpress Pro?
{EDIT} John beat me to it!
good luck,Carl

I just wanted to know if it was possible, to use footage that was exported from final cut as .mov rather than something that has been exported back onto dv tape and then into avid.
i don't have access to final cut anymore so I'm not sure of the settings. But I did as something like 308 x 388 (or what the format of widescreen is) and high quality.
I'm using standard resolution in Avid
I'm not going to have a section tested for broadcast, as I don't know what the client is going to do, most likely put it on the internet and put a copy with cd release
thanks for any help
Yes, it is technically possible, but if the file dimensions are 308x388 I wouldn't expect it to look very good, seeing as DV is 720x576.
good luck,
Carl
thanks for your words. i'm re-editing the video as we speak.
my old work made me redundant then tried to palm me off with half the notice pay i was due, so now are being dicks and not letting me copy off any of my work.
boilerhouse communications grrr
