I have a Unity 4.5.x (4 gb, 2 years old) with two Adrenalines on it (2.8.x). I am interested in upgrading the Media Composers to new Mac's running the Nitris DX hardware and version 3.0. I have been unable to find this info so I thought I'd ask here: If I do upgrade my client machines and Avid hardware/software will I also need to upgrade the Unity? Thank you.

I believe so, yes. Unity 5.x was required for 3.0.

Unless I misinterpret the question, the MC 3.0 ReadMe says otherwise:
OS Leopard | ISIS client v1.5 | ISIS server v1.4, 1.5 | MN Client v5.1 | MN Server v4.1.6, 4.2.4, 5.0.1, 5.1
Same numbers apply to XP and Vista B63, with the addition of MN Client v4.1.6, 4.2.4, 5.0.1 on XP. No mention of the Tiger versions (not even in the 3.0.1 ReadMe), but I reckon they're the same as for XP.
[On a sidenote, I'd expect the OP's Unity system to be 4TB, not 4GB...]
The bundle info I have says that 5.x is required for 3.0. But, typically, Avid has conflicting info.
Doc should be along soon to straighten me out though.
Other than the info I copied from the ReadMe, I am currently running 2 PC v3.0 Avids on Lanshare 4.2.3 without any issues whatsoever. No Avid rep ever suggested I needed to upgrade my Lanshare, even when I specifically asked about this. I know that does not make it official, but just thought I'dd add the info anyway.
Ok, after speaking with field support, I see where my confusion lies.
Unity can be running 4.1.x, 4.2.4 or 5.x but you must be running the 5.1 client in order to be compatible with Leopard and 3.x.
Hi, I have 2 MC Nitris DX V.3.0 (currently under XP), somebody know what MN client I need to use to connect to MN4.1.6 and MN 4.2.4 if I reconfigure the Nitris DX to work under Vista?
Thanks in advance
Rob.
As it was explained to me today, you would need v5.1 of the client with 3.0.
somebody know what MN client I need to use to connect to MN4.1.6 and MN 4.2.4
The answer was already given, earlier in this thread, when I quoted the ReadMe. For V3.0 on Vista, MN Client v5.1. is supported.
Are you saying to install Fiber Manager 5.1 software on the client and connect to the 4.2.4 Unity? Just making sure as I didn't know you could do that...
Job is more the expert here than I but that's what I was told.
I wouldn't dare claim to be an expert, I was just quoting the ReadMe. I've never used a Leopard machine on my Lanshare, and no 5.1 client, but I do have two PC's (fibre) and one MacBook (Tiger, Ethernet) attached to my Lanshare, all 4.2.3.
