Any recommendations for the simplest DVD recorder (brand/model) which I can use for crash record and work-in-progress output from my Avid MCA 2.7.5 PC system. Project NTSC Film 23.975 to output for viewing on consumer SD monitors.
I can run and AVID and Pro Tools, but have difficulty with menu prep on typical consumer DVD player/recorders.
Any suggestions: ie. Sony, JVC, any particular model which is easiest to use?
We use the Pioneer PRV-LX1. It can make a straight "dub" style recording, or menus can be created if desired.

Ronn,
I have the same dvd recorder, do you use the analog input or do you go through the dv input? Just wondering. I have only used the analog, but wondered what it would take to go through the firewire connection and if it would be worth it.
Also, concure that the the Samsung DVD-r155 is cheap and realiable.
Thanks!

Hey Mattman - I use the analog (S-Video) input, when dubbing from Avid. I have used the DV input coming from DV tape so I know that it works. I think Mojo didn't like it over FW but it's been a while since I tried. Considering the compression, I doubt you'd see much difference.
The recorder's main job is to timer-record "Dinner Impossible" off the satellite every week for the wife. Works great.
Thanks,
I haven't tried it through the mojo, but always wondered if you could at least crash record to it.
As it is now, I have it looped from my beta deck (by way of distribution amplifier) by composite and then out to my monitor through the composite output. What is unbelievable is that it will loop the signal to my monitor even when the dvd recorder is off. Not sure if other recorders do this, but it is great being able to dub to beta and DVD at the same time. Then, if I am not using the dvd recorder I don't have to change anything or even have it turned on.
Thanks again for the info!
Thank you Larry (et al).
Happy Labor Day
