To upgrade or not, that's the question. whether tis nobler yadda, yadda, yadda.
We currently run MCAS v2.8 on qualified Dell Precision 670 (see spec for full details). We're considering upgrading to MCacad v3.0 soft w/toolkit v2.8 & maybe Boris box set acad. Unfortunately, Precision 670 is not qualified for MC3.0.
We will not be upgrading this PC. We are buying a new avid spec mac.
What is the groupthink on this? Has anyone on the forum installed MC3 soft on a Precision 670? In your experience(s) does MC run properly or not? Which is less likely to create conflict: MC 3.0 soft on a precision 670 or moving files between MC 2.8 and 3.0?
Yes, Protools must be moved off box--known conflict. Any other words of wisdom?
regards,
/mp
I believe that if Xpress Pro was working (much less MC 2.8), then MC will work fine...so long as you have the min 2gb of RAM. We are running MC 3.0 on a Dell Precision 650. Works like a charm. We are also running Toolkit along with Avid FX (Boris Red), and the latest BCC (AVX 2) filters.

Thanks for the fast reply adman. Followup question: Boris box set includes boris blue with minimum quadro FX 1500. We've got the FX1300. Any issues swapping in a PNY nvidia card? I have a vague recollection PNY/nvidia cards are an issue but that may be years out of date.
