We've got some crusty Xpress meridiens that are going bye bye. More than one sales person suggested that we could follow the same upgrade path as an AXP user and get 3.0 for $ 500.
Now our sales rep says that isn't possible. Anybody out there now what avid's policy is for Xpress meridien users?
Even if upgrading for meridien users is not standard policy. Might they make an exception since we will also be buying unity and 5 new mojos?

Avid absolutely should make us this offer. If they'll take a $1,695 Xpress Pro as trade-in for $495, they they should take a system that was $50k as trade-in for $495 as well. One response I've heard is that the only trade-in is toward a hardware-based system, or MC Nitris DX. However, many users can't/won't spend $12,500+ to upgrade, but they'll jump at the chance to spend $495.
Avid, you're simply passing up a possibe revenue stream. And, the revenue stream you think you might get, doesn't really exist.

If a reseller aproaches Avid and with our situation might Avid decide it would be good example of "New Thinking" and agree to such a deal. Certainly wouldn't get such a response from Apple.
Red Ochre,
Zip me an email and I will make sure you get tied to a rep that will assist you. Not sure exactly what but they will work with you.
