    jumpy remind in source/record monitors

I am running into problems with my system when working in the timeline and source monitors. When playing back video, I am getting "jumpy playback". Press rewind, then I skips frames, and then stops playing .I am able to scrolling backwards with my mouse but not by simply pressing "j" (using default settings) to rewind. I also am unable to rewind in the timeline. My rewind function is basically not in working order.

I am running Xpress Pro 5.5.1 on a Precision 870, xp service pack 2. The quicktime is version 7.0.1, Nvidia driver is version 61.14 and windows media player is version 10. I am also currently on Unity Media Engine with 24 clients attached. 16 fiber and 8 ethernet. Unity version 5.0.1. This has nothing to do with the problems that I am having but I think its important to let you know what Im working with.

    Hi,

According to the Version Matrix, you should be running Quicktime 7.1 and nVidia driver 84.26.  I'd try that first.

    {EDIT} Larry beat me!

    good luck,

Thanks for the heads up. The reason that I was running these previous versions of these drivers/quicktime was because avid was not stable when meeting the specs. I had to play around with the mix and match of versions in order to get my system to not constandly crash. Will try experiments with the version matrix but this may not be it.

Ok well since you're on Unity, do you have the same problems with this project on another platform?

No this only seems to happen on our PC systems.

Re: jumpy remind in source/record monitors

    Hey,

I have fixed the problem by running different versions of specific software. Im running xpress pro 5.2.4, qt 6.5.3, and windows media player 9.5. I basically played around with the version until I no longer had the jumpy playback issue. Its a bit unorthodox but its now stable. Thanks Larry for all your help.
