I create text in Avid FX (5.8). Looks great in the FX monitor. When I apply it into Composer (3.0), it doesn't look good at all. Edges are rough and all the text actually is somewhat grainy.
In FX..all setting are 'high', in Composer Video quality is high....it looks bad rendered or not. But render setting are set high.
When I do text in the Title Tool, or Marquee, it looks like fine.
I'm using a Sony monitor so this is not looking at the computer monitor.
I have also tried various fonts and they all do it.
I had been using Red before I udgraded to Composer and it was working ok.
Any ideas?

What does it look like when you export a quicktime file?
What resolution are you rendering to? DV25 is pretty pixelated on the edges. can you try 1:1 or even DV50?
Happy Editing!
It looks good on the computer monitor after exporting as a QT file.
But looks bad in the Avid monitor, rendered or not...and bad on the Sony monitor...rendered or not.
Thanks for the replies.
it's not just the edges. the whole title has alot of what i could describe as video noise on it. But a title created in Marquee doesn't have it.
OK, this is weird, When I use and Avid FX preset, it looks ok. I can change the font color and add an outline, and include motion and it looks ok.
When I click on 'Fonts' in the "Style Palette" window, there are no fonts listed there. There should be fonts there, I'd think.
If I apply a 'style'...it makes the text look bad.
just checking
would this be better to post in the 'Studio' forum since it's part of that package?
Possibly.... but 5.8 was not part of studio, I think 5.7 was the last there.
I will run a quick test on 5.8 here at the end of today and see if I get the same problem. However I am in PAL so it may not be a valid comparison.
thanks....i'm stumped on this one. tried everything i can think of.
