    Continue Playing While Adjusting Audio

Playing automatically stops whenever an audio value is adjusted, e.g. gain, equalization.

This is really quite bad, especially when trying to use the equalizer to isolate a particular sound. I have to constantly make an adjustment, press Play, make an adjustment, press Play, etc..

As annoying as play stopping is during image related adjustments, like CC, at least there is a still frame to look at.

But when audio automatically playing stops, there is no audio information at all, just silence. I can't believe this is still the case.

Re: Continue Playing While Adjusting Audio

This is why i use the Audio Automation Tool.  you pop it open, hit the record button and play your sequence - as you move your faders in the mixing interface it adjusts the volume - no stopping.  then you can queue it up and play it again and make more adjustments if you need to - on the fly.  works great with a Didgi 002 control surface.

Re: Continue Playing While Adjusting Audio

When adjusting EQ or an audio suite effect, use the preview loop on the EQ or audio suite tool - you will get continuous playback while adjusting. And in MC 3.0, the latency of the update is much tighter.

Agreed, but that is a workaround, it is not preferred implementation.

Thanks guys for the workaround suggestions, much appreciated as always. It would be nice to have a Timeline Setting something along the lines of "Continue play while adjusting audio levels."

Re: Continue Playing While Adjusting Audio

I have asked for this several times in the "Features Request" forum. I've pointed out that with today's processing power, it should be possible to not only have continuous playback when adjusting levels, but also not having playback interrupted for any keystroke other than marking in and out on the fly or locators on the fly during capture.

    Larry,

One of the frustrating things about making suggestions is often they just kind of dissipate into the ether.

I tried addressing this problem with the following suggestion: http://community.avid.com/forums/t/61764.aspx

Would love to have your input. And thanks again for all the help you so generously provide to us all!
