firewire vs serial for deck control

What are people's thoughts regarding the use of the Keyspan Twin Serial adapter to control a deck vs firewire control. I have always used the keyspan but a tech support fellow just told me firewire is now the recommended method. Agree?

    thanks,

    Brad

Not in the slightest. FW deck control is extremely flakey in comparison.

Agreed with BLKDOG. Avoid firewire control where ever possible.

Firewire control - not so good.

    Serial control - good.

To put it simply "Firewire Deck Control" is an oxymoron.  Not even Sony suggests it can work (reliably).
