Just one quick question: are you saying this only applies when one slows down the footage? Otherwise things should more-or-less roll smoothly? I wasn't planning on slowing anything down since i'm only making a few bumpers. I'll mostly be using the text tool and some graphics, and the few occasional fades...

Yes. This only occurs when slowing down. Again, this is because you are duplicating fields. You should definitely read about pulldown online somwhere.
