Greetings...
Is it possible to hook Sony PVW- 2800 Betcam SP VTR to Mojo SDI, and what cable should be bought to hook them??
2- Is it possible to Hook Sony 7040 DAT to mojo SDI, and again what's the cables to use?
Sorry to emphasise on the question again, as I'm afraid to buy the wrong stuff that will be useless...
Thanks
Dan
Dan,
The Mojo SDI also has a component input, which you can use to hook up your PVW to. The Mojo SDI has BNC-based AES inputs. You would need to use XLR-to-BNC converters (and possibly impedance) to get from the 7040 into the Mojo SDI.
Hi Job..It's been long time...thanks for replying...
I just want to make sure I got it right...Mojo SDI got component connector that looks like DVI connector, the PVW got BNC connectors, what's the kind of that cable that do the hooking job, and is there an Avid certified one?
The two DVI connectors on the Mojo are not really DVI connectors. Same type, but the Mojo SDI comes with breakout cables, they will be in the box. Each of those "DVI"-type connectors then breaks out into a bunch of BNCs (7). SDI, Y, U, V, AES1+2, AES3+4, Ref/Clock. One connector is for input, one is for output. There are two identical breakout cables, does not matter which you use for In or Out (although you might want to label them in order to maintain sanity later on).
The analog inputs use common connectors. If you choose Composite input, the Y connector will accept composite video. If you choose S-Video, the Y connector is for Y and another is for C (a BNC to S-plug converter is also supplied), and if you choose Component input, you'll use all three BNC's. The SDI input is dedicated.
A nice little bonus is that whatever analogue out you select in the video output tool (I used to use component out to a Sony PVM crt) the sdi output stays live as well.
